There are a lot of kinds of pollution that can infect our water. One reason is plastic getting into the water. Plastic is a big deal because it never goes away. After a while, it disappears.. You think it’s gone but it is really invisible to us, we can't see it because it's microscopic. If the invisible plastic gets on a fish’s food and the fish eat it, it can kill them.
Something very similar is just trash getting in the water. For two reasons, The trash can choke them and tangle them up, or they could get stuck in it, and all the bacteria of the trash in the water is obviously not very good for the fish, or any other animal in the water.
The last reason, is oil spilling in the water or any toxic chemical related to that. We can all tell that's not a very good thing and it doesn’t belong in the water with all the animals and plants in the water
The point source of pollution is sewage. It's bad for the animals in the ocean . It clogs up the fish gills and it’s hard for them to swim in and it’s full of gross bacteria. A group of people called The ocean cleanup made something to cleanup the garbage patch. instead of using nets. So they made the garbage patch so they can catch the floating plastic. So the animals won't get stuck in the nets.
Nonpoint water pollution usually results from land runoff, precipitation, drainage. Pollution is caused by rainfall or snowmelt moving over and through the ground. As the runoff moves it picks up and carries the pollutants finally putting them into lakes, rivers , wetlands, and ocean. Pollution is not good at all it is very bad for the animals in the ocean and for us. It’s really sad that this is happening to the earth.
The main reason out of all nine choices, oil spills and marine dumping are the ones I chose. I chose marine dumping because of all the trash in the ocean. We don't want the Great Pacific Garbage patch to get bigger and yes that is an actual place sadly. I also chose oil spills because there is so much oil in the ocean.
Oil spills and marine dumping are very bad because it can harm animals and the plants and the water. The marine dumping could involve plastic and if the animals eat that they will get really sick. Oil spills are also really bad because it’s like poison for the animals if they drink it.
The last reason, is oil spilling in the water or any toxic chemical related to that. We can all tell that's not a very good thing and it doesn’t belong in the water with all the animals and plants in the water
The Oil that has spilled in the ocean or is in the ocean affects animals such as birds, fish, sea turtles, sea lions, and much more. Oil also affects underwater vegetation and marsh grasses. the oil produces chemicals that lead to cancer as well. another example is the deepwater horizon spill that happened in the gulf of mexico on 10, 2010
Oxygen lasts in oceans. When water collects heat it expands. The water is warm because that is where 90% of the world heat goes. So the warmer the water gets the less oxygen there is in the ocean. Pollution is depressing. We can make a change if we all do one thing.

week 1 of the student blogging challenge

My name is Rylee I am a 6th grader at Chimacum middle school in Washington. My blog is mostly about science because this is my science blog. I started blogging about half a year ago and I filled it with widgets and science videos and pictures and even my work!!. Blogging is really fun because you are not just sharing your ideas with your class with the whole world. Well, that's my introduction can't wait to read yours!!

newtons 3 laws

newtons 1st law an object at rest will stay at rest unless acted upon by an unbalanced force

the greater the mass the greater amount of force needed

for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction

my bottle flipping experiment

Name: rylee Date:   11/21/16

Experimental Conclusion

Intro - Start by explaining or summarizing your experiment.
Claim – Write a statement about what you learned from your experiment. What did you prove?
Evidence – Share the data you collected and/or observed that supports your claim.
Reasoning – Explain the Science behind your claim. Why did you get the results you got? Also show how your evidence supports, or actually proves, that your claim is correct.

We (explain or summarize what you did in your experiment)
flipped bottles until they landed and my team experimented on different types of bottles.

My claim is that we got a very good high persentage on the small bottle and a very low percentage on the big bottle

My evidence is we got 90% on the small bottle and 0% for the big 2 liter bottle.

I think this happened because the big bottle is harder to control and small one is so small it is easy to control it

My evidence supports my claim because the big  bottle landed less than the small one
